President’s Comment
 Residents who attended the Trust’s AGM back in April will remember the informative talk given by Senior Constable Shane Carne on home security.  As a result of that talk, I was invited to attend a meeting on Monday night, as the Trust's representative, the Ryde Local Area Command (LAC) Community Safety Precinct Committee.  I found the committee meeting extremely informative, providing a valuable opportunity for the Trust to inform our community on local policing matters that Neighbourhood Watch does not currently reach. The presentation gave me an appreciation of the size of our LAC, stretching from Hunters Hill to Dural.

 For our LAC, while break-ins are statistically down, fraud crime is increasing and so is domestic violence.  The good news is that the police have detained the thief that has been targeting the Beecroft area.  Comment from the police was, the more homes that have CCTV installed (hardware stores stock them these days), the greater the deterrent.  The fact that fraud crime, both domestic and commercial, is increasing probably doesn’t come as any surprise so be careful. Lock your letterboxes for a start!  As for domestic violence the statistical increase appears to be based on a general increase in reporting.

Besides 000 , I recommend you save the Police Assistance Line (PAL) 131 444  (24 hours) on your mobile phone for crimes already committed. And don’t forget to visit www.police.nsw.gov.au for more information.

Damien Tudehope has written to members of the Beecroft Cheltenham community informing them of the accessibility upgrade for Beecroft Station. He goes on to thank all the residents for their perseverance and enthusiasm, many of whom have approached him personally on this important issue.

The eNews is becoming our main method for disseminating information to the community. Currently we have over 1020 email addresses, up from 900 two months ago.  We encourage residents who receive the eNews to tell their neighbours and friends. The eNews letter is available to all who subscribe.  Trust Membership is not a requirement.
The Trust will continue to distribute the printed bulletin as not everyone uses the internet.  
 
The Trust has always had an unwritten policy to assist any resident regardless of their membership status.
