Message from the President
The Trust’s Annual General Meeting on Monday 15th March is fast approaching, so this is likely to be my last message as President.  I have enjoyed the honour, and accepted the responsibility. I have tried to represent the local community and support the aims of the Trust’s constitution, namely to preserve and protect the heritage and bushland qualities that make our suburb special. I have had some wins and some losses. And some issues are still unresolved
including the M2 noise issue and the Cheltenham haulage road rehabilitation.  I’m optimistic that our State Member Dominic Perrottet will be able to make an announcement about the haulage road at the AGM.
For the Trust to remain strong and to be representative of our community we need volunteers to step up and join the committee. It is equally important that I step down as President, as is required by the BCCT constitution, so others can step up and contribute. The Trust desperately needs a stronger representation of residents living in the section of Beecroft that now falls within Parramatta City LGA. So those living south of the M2, please consider joining our committee.
I wish to note the passing of a community ‘activist’ , Mary Jo Reeve. Mary Jo regularly attended Trust meetings for many years. She always had something to say about making the community better. She will be missed. Condolences to Dr Tom Reeve and the extended family.
Hopefully I will see you at the AGM, on Monday 15th March at the Beecroft Presbyterian church. Please consider nominating for the committee!

Clean Up Australia 2021
Clean Up Australia is on this Sunday 7th March at the Beecroft Village Green, 9am to about midday.  As in past years, the picnic table next to the children’s playground will be used as the meeting place and to drop off the collected rubbish. The usual protocols will apply, such as children to be accompanied by adults and participants should wear sensible footwear, gloves and a hat. Collection bags will be provided.
All welcome.

2021 Annual General Meeting March 15th
The Beecroft Cheltenham Civic Trust will hold its 2021 AGM on Monday night March 15th at the Beecroft Presbyterian Hall, located between Mary and Welham Streets Beecroft, commencing 7.30pm.
It is a large hall and hopefully we will be able to conduct a proper meeting instead of a virtual meeting. Guest Speaker will be the Mayor of Hornsby Council, the Hon Philip Ruddock AO.

For the Trust to maintain its value a constant stream of new faces is required on the committee. So, if you appreciate and value your suburb, please seriously consider joining the committee. Nomination forms are on the Trust’s web site but you can also nominate on the night.
Beecroft War Memorial update
Repairs to the Beecroft war memorial should be completed very soon.  The memorial is approximately 100 years old and, being constructed from sandstone, has weathered over time. The recent repairs have been more extensive than Hornsby Council had anticipated, but it should be good for another 100 years!
Alterations and Additions to Chesalon Residential Care Facility
A Development Application DA124/2021 has been lodged with Hornsby Council by the owner Thompson Health Care for substantial alterations and additions. Chesalon is heritage listed, originally the home of the Arnott family.  The proposed changes are significant and the Trust has concerns regarding a number of matters including height, bulk and heritage. While submissions close this week the Trust encourages  residents who have concerns about the proposed development to lodge an objection. A number of adjoining owners, including the Trust, were not notified for some reason, so there is likely to be a number of late submissions.
