To help local residents and businesses who are doing it tough due to the current COVID-19 lockdown, Council has announced a support package worth up to $2.9 million. Parking concessions, rates and rent relief, and various fee waivers may help ease the financial burden on our community over the coming months. Council is also extending the trial of evening sports field lighting to 22 grounds across the Parramatta Local Government Area from 5.30pm - 8.30pm Monday to Friday. Parramatta Light Rail Update Prior to the NSW Government’s pause on construction work, the Parramatta Light Rail team had made great progress with the installation of pavers, multi-function poles and trees from Lennox Bridge to George Street. Track installation across the intersection of Church and George Streets in the Parramatta CBD was also almost completed. Works will recommence when NSW Health orders allow. Have your say on major projectsCouncil is currently inviting community feedback on two major projects: the proposed T-Way cycleway realignment through Constitution Hill, and the Alfred Street pedestrian and cyclist upgrade in Rosehill. Meals on Wheels services continueMeals on Wheels is considered an essential service and is still operating throughout the latest COVID-19 restrictions. If you know anyone who requires this service, please contact Council. Help keep our streets clean Council is working hard to keep our neighbourhoods safe and clean. We are offering all residents free kerbside collections and also tackling illegal dumping by regularly patrolling local streets. Over 55s Leisure and Learning Service updateDue to the extended lockdown, all face-to-face activities have been cancelled for Term 3. These activities will be refunded in full and some have been moved online. Local Government elections postponedThe NSW Government has postponed the 2021 Local Government elections for three months until Saturday 4 December, in response to the COVID-19 situation.
