The
extended lockdown is a blow. Being separated from family is difficult
at the best of times. I know that many people in the community haven't
seen family for well over a year now.
Local small businesses are under pressure. Families are stuck at
home with few ways to take a break. Mental health is an issue with the
combined financial and personal pressures we are all under.
I wanted to write to let you know that I'm aware of the stress and
anxiety. We will get through this together, as we have before, but
it's a tough time for all of us.
Despite the pandemic, my work as your councillor continues.
I have less than nine weeks left as your councillor, and I'm determined
to use every day to keep protecting where we live. This includes:
- preserving our bushland and wildlife - especially Byles Creek
- pushing back against overdevelopment and commercial daycare businesses in quiet residential areas
- advocating for new facilities like a library for Cherrybrook and a pump track for North Epping
- making
sure a masterplan for Hornsby Town Centre incorporates a big new
library, green space, a performing arts centre and sustainable
design.
The
pandemic has exposed severe inequalities in our society. To me,
the Greens’ vision of a society based on equality and sustainability is
more important than ever.
I care deeply for this area and for our community. My work for you
and your family continues. A place this good is worth
fighting for!
Emma
