month is Plastic Free July, when we focus on taking action to reduce
plastic waste. The people of Hornsby Shire are passionate about
preserving our precious environment, and Council is committed to
supporting this. We’re hosting events to inspire you to reduce your use
of plastic and live more sustainably. From online webinars to in-person
workshops, there’s something for everyone. If you’re passionate about
making a difference, why not sign up to become a Waste Warrior as part

UPDATE ON MAJOR PROJECTSHornsby Park |

Progress at Hornsby Park…Hornsby
Park continues to take shape, with major milestones bringing us closer
to a vibrant new recreational space for the community. The Crusher Plant
area draws closer to completion and now features picnic tables and
barbecues while, construction of the Southern Lookout viewing platform
is well underway. The
construction of the Western Lookout and boardwalk is almost complete,
and work will soon begin on a circulation path around the old quarry. |

Designed for all ages to create, discover and play, you can borrow: Podcasting kits to launch your own show Cake tins and cookie cutters for your next baking adventure Coding robots and STEAM kits to inspire young minds Crafting tools like decorative paper punches and Cricut Joy machines Thermal cameras and “save power” kits to help you reduce energy use Instax mini cameras to capture and instantly print special moments Puzzles, origami, games, and construction toys for hours of entertainment.

SPORTING AND COMMUNITYShire upgrades |

Ron Payne Park, North EppingRon
Payne Park Oval received an upgrade just before the winter sports
season kicked off. The oval now features high-quality sports turf – the
first of its kind in the Shire – along with improved drainage and
irrigation, a new synthetic cricket wicket, tiered sandstone seating,
and new fencing. The
North Epping Rangers Sports Club MiniRoos were among the first to enjoy
the upgraded field (pictured) and were very excited about the
revitalised space. |

TRAILS, TREES AND TRANQUILITYWalks for everyone |
|
Carrs Bush Discovery Walk, Fagan Park, GalstonPerfect
for beginners and families, this gentle 250-metre boardwalk loop winds
through Carrs Bush, a rare patch of Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest.
Along the way, enjoy fun educational signage about local wildlife and
plant life. Starting at the Carrs Bush Playground, the path is wheelchair and pram accessible – ideal for walkers of all ages. |
