LABOR WANTS YOU TO PAY MORE FOR HEALTH CARE

I write to you about Labor’s proposed changes to private health insurance rebates for Australians over the age of 65.

Many older Australians tell me they are already feeling the pressure of rising costs, and that any increase in healthcare expenses will hit them hard. Affordable, reliable healthcare should be something you can count on, especially when you need it most.

These proposed changes would reduce the higher rebates for over-65s, meaning more than 1.4 million Australians could face premium increases of up to $640 a year. At a time of cost-of-living strain, this will make things harder for many.

There are also broader impacts. If private health cover becomes unaffordable, some may be forced to cancel their cover altogether – placing further pressure on an already stretched public health system.

I do not believe older Australians should be asked to carry this burden. If these changes are likely to affect you, please complete the short survey in the link below so I can continue to advocate on your behalf.
