FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) is a new way to recycle your food scraps and garden waste and reduce landfill at the same time! The FOGO waste collection service is coming in November to people living in houses, duplexes, townhouses, and unit buildings with less than 30 dwellings.

What is FOGO?

It is a combined food and garden waste collection service. You can recycle your food and garden organics with your new green lid FOGO bin. Anything you can eat or grow such as meats and dairy, to grass and sticks can go into FOGO!

Why are we changing to FOGO?

This change is happening right across the state as the NSW Government has mandated all councils in NSW to implement FOGO waste collection services by 2030. It will contribute to our goal of diverting 85% of the waste we send to landfill by 2038.

What you need to know

1. Your green lid FOGO bin and red lid garbage bin will be collected weekly, and your yellow lid recycling bin will be collected fortnightly.

2. With your new FOGO waste service diverting up to 40% from your red bin, and weekly green bin collection, you’ll have increased bin capacity when you FOGO!

3. With food waste being diverted to your new green lid FOGO bin, you will receive a new 80L red lid garbage bin and cost saving reflected in your rates notice.

4. Property owners of single unit dwellings can opt in to receive a 140L or 240L larger red lid garbage bin for an additional fee. A digital form is available to download or a form will be sent to you via mail. For those in rental properties, please contact your landlord.
