Sunday 6 July, 8:45 for a 9 am start (THIS SUNDAY)
Walk: Blue Gum Track, Hornsby (booking essential)
Experience the dramatic changes in vegetation as the tall blue gums growing on the rich, volcanic soils of the Hornsby diatreme give way to the woodland on the iconic sandstone ridge tops.

Saturday 16 August, 2:30 pm
Talk: Orchids (more info — no need to book)

Wendy Grimm will present the local ground orchids together in related groups so that the physical similarities and differences within each genus can be appreciated. Species and common names (where available) will be shown on each slide.

Sunday 31 August, 8:45 for a 9 am start
Long Trail, Duffys Forest (booking essential)

This is one of the best wildflower walks in Ku-ring-gai Chase. Laterite along the first kilometre or so supports many waratahs, some of which will hopefully be in bloom.

Eucalypt identification workshop

Eucalypts are an iconic feature of the Australian bushland yet with 1000 species, they can be a mystery to identify. To sample a bite sized chunk of this species it’s easier to focus solely on species in your area. Local expert Paul Gadsby has agreed to run a workshop for STEP. Paul is a passionate botanist and educator with over 25 years of experience studying Australia’s native flora.
